Our office is supervised by a medical doctor and/or psychiatrist. You will not actually be seen during your visit by a medical doctor. The law (as mandated by the state of Texas, DEA, and Board of Nursing) requires every medication management office to be overseen and supervised by a medical doctor whenever clients are being seen by advanced nurse practitioners. This means that for any medications that are being prescribed to you, we lawfully must have a medical doctor in place to review patient charts, provide clinical support and training to our nurse practitioners and staff, and approve and prescribe certain medications. Here, at DFW Collaborative Behavioral Health, your visit will be conducted by an advanced nurse practitioner. If this is a concern for you, please let our receptionist staff know prior to scheduling an appointment with our office. Upfront and open communication is very important to us regarding your health.
The short answer is yes. Depending on the type of medication you’re being prescribed by our medical provider, it is possible that lab work and drug screening (urine, bloodwork and/or oral swab) be necessary. Part of this is because of federal and state regulations requiring this from us to maintain our licenses but also because we want to ensure your health and safety are at the forefront of your care. We may also need to collect your blood pressure and pulse to ensure certain medications do not put your overall health at risk.
Yes, we do; however, it is a standard practice at our clinic that we only provide these types of documents once you’ve been an established patient seen by our medical providers for at least for three (3) minimum visits. We must ensure that we have a detailed, comprehensive understanding of your medical history so that we can provide collaborative care to you.
It is also important to note that certain documents that our office prepares may include a fee. We will collect that fee PRIOR to completing any paperwork. Please refer to our fee schedule in your new client packet that you received prior to your first appointment.
Yes, we do accept insurance AND we do accept self-paying clients. Our list of insurances accepted do change without notice so please contact our office directly to learn more about which insurances we accept.
Yes, we do have both policies in place. Please know that every client that comes to us is entrusting us with their overall health and behavioral support, so appointments must be kept unless there are circumstances such as emergencies that get in the way of showing up to an appointment.
We understand that life happens, but we have a limited number of slots available to offer to the community we support. We kindly ask that if you know that you will not be able to make your appointment, that you call and reschedule/cancel your appointment at least 24 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. If we don’t hear from you in a timely manner, we will automatically charge your credit/debit card on file with a $25 no-show/late cancellation fee.
If for whatever reason your card on file declines, you will still be responsible for this fee on or before your next appointment. If there are 3 consecutive no-shows or late cancellations, we will kindly ask you to seek the help from a different provider at a different behavioral facility.
